Continuing Education Series for Teachers

ABOUT THIS TRAINING:

As anyone who has been through a 200-hr program knows, much of what you learn doesn’t get fully digested. We study, we pay attention, and then despite our best efforts, 6 months later we find ourselves grasping for words to explain internal rotation or the concept of santosha. This program is designed for those who can relate. Through group and individual study, you will receive a thorough review of the basic concepts of yoga (limbs—both esoteric and anatomical), how to weave a class effectively, living like a yoga teacher and ways to have an impact (moving from instructor to teacher). Because much of what you learn is best digested through experiential learning, there will also be some group teaching exercises and opportunities for feedback.

TOPICS COVERED:

  • Asana Alignment & Architecture

  • Learning to See & Assist Your Students

  • Speaking & Sequencing Well

  • Differentiating Yourself from the Pack

  • Principles & Maintenance of Svadhyaya (self-study)

ADDITIONAL TIME COMMITMENT (Recommended or Required Depending on Program Length):

  • Attendance in at least 4 of Ame's upper level classes before the first meeting and 4 more over the duration of the program

  • Observation of 2 of Ame's all-levels classes

  • 2 brief individual check-ins (via Skype/Facetime or in-person if schedules allow)
